Mölkky
Objective: The goal in Mölkky is to be the first to score exactly 50 points by knocking over numbered skittles.
Game Setup
- The game consists of 12 numbered skittles (numbered 1 to 12) and a throwing pin (Mölkky).
- On a flat area, the skittles are placed tightly in a pattern (typically a formation with two skittles in the front, then three, then four, then three):
- Row 1: 1, 2
- Row 2: 4, 3, 5
- Row 3: 6, 7, 8, 9
- Row 4: 10, 11, 12
- Each player stands behind a designated throwing line, approximately 3-4 meters away from the skittles, depending on the desired difficulty.
Gameplay
- In each round, a player throws the throwing pin from the throwing line to knock over skittles.
- Scoring:
- A single skittle knocked down gives the score equal to the number on the skittle.
- Multiple skittles knocked down will give a score equal to the number of skittles knocked down.
- The knocked skittles are then placed upright at the spot where they landed, constantly changing the playfield.
- Players record their scores after each turn.
- Winning: The first player to reach exactly 50 points wins. If a player goes over 50, their score is reduced to 25.
- Three consecutive misses: A player who fails to knock down a skittle for three consecutive turns is eliminated from the game.
Strategic Tips:
- Accuracy is crucial, especially when nearing 50 points.
- Aim to knock skittles into advantageous positions for your next move or disadvantageous positions for your opponents.
- Always keep track of the current score to avoid overshooting 50 points.
Special Features:
- Easy to learn, making it ideal for players of all ages.
- Mölkky is sociable and competitive, requiring not only skill but also strategic thinking.
- Team Play: It can be played in teams, with team members taking turns.
