Objective of the Game
The objective of Flunkyball is to be the first team to finish all their drinks by knocking over a bottle and using the opportunity to drink.
Preparation
- Number of Players: There's no fixed maximum, typically two teams of 3-10 people.
- Materials Needed:
- One or more empty bottles, preferably plastic (for safety).
- A ball, usually a tennis ball or similar small ball.
- One drink per player (usually beer cans or drink cups).
Setup
- Playfield: Find a large enough area to place the bottle in the center. Teams should face each other at varying distances (about 10-15 meters) and line up behind their drinks.
- Center Bottle Placement: Place an empty bottle in the middle of the playfield.
- Place Drinks: Each team member places their drink on the ground in front of them as a starting position.
Gameplay
- Start: Teams decide which team starts. The starting team throws the ball to hit the central bottle to knock it over.
- Knocking Over the Bottle: If they hit and knock over the bottle, the entire team can drink while the opposing team runs to reset the bottle and retrieve the ball.
- Drinking Time: During the time the opposing team is resetting the bottle and retrieving the ball, players of the throwing team can drink.
- Stop Drinking: As soon as the bottle is reset and the ball is returned and held up, the throwing team must stop drinking and pass the ball to the next player of the opposition for their turn.
- Turn Change: The opposing team then takes their turn to knock over the bottle with the ball.
- End of the Game: The game ends when one team finishes all their drinks.
Important Rules and Strategies
- Accuracy: Knocking over the bottle is crucial to gain drinking time. Accurate aiming and a quick run to retrieve and reset the ball increase the chances of winning.
- Team Tactics: Good communication within the team is essential to make the most of the drinking time and react quickly to the ball.
- Ball Usage: The ball can be thrown with any technique as long as it knocks over the bottle.
Safety Precautions
- Alcohol Consumption: Although Flunkyball is popular as a drinking game, players should consume responsibly. Safety and fun should always come first.
