Objective of the Game
Arbos is a dexterity game where the objective is to build a tree using sticks without causing any part of the tree to collapse. Each player tries to get rid of all their sticks by placing them on the tree while maintaining its balance.
Game Components
- 1 tree trunk consisting of a base and a vertical axis
- 6 main branches that are attached to the trunk
- Numerous smaller branches of varying lengths and shapes
Setup
- Place the tree trunk on the table.
- Attach the main branches symmetrically to the vertical axis.
- Distribute all the smaller branches evenly among the players.
Gameplay
- The youngest player starts, and play continues clockwise.
- Each player places one of their branches on the tree, ensuring the construction remains stable. No pieces should fall.
- Branches can be attached to both the main branches and previously placed branches.
- If a player knocks off branches while placing their own, they must pick them up and add them to their hand.
- The game ends when a player has successfully placed all their branches.
- The player with the fewest branches at the end wins if no player manages to place all their branches.
Special Rules
- It is allowed to hold the tree for balance with one hand while placing a branch, but no already placed branch may be touched.
- If a player accidentally touches already placed branches, they must skip their next turn.
Strategic Tips
- Mind the balance: Try placing branches symmetrically to maintain balance.
- Start with the longest or trickiest branches: These may be easier to place at the beginning of the game.
- Observe other players to anticipate which parts of the tree are particularly unstable.
