Objective
Erdball is a social game where teams compete against each other to get a large inflatable ball into the opposing goal. The main goal of the game is to promote teamwork, body coordination, and strategic thinking. The first team to score a predetermined number of goals wins the game.
Materials
- A large inflatable ball (usually about 1.5 to 2 meters in diameter)
- Two markers or goals at each end of the play area
- A large play area, preferably on grass or in a hall
Setup
- Field Boundaries: Form a rectangular playing field with clearly defined boundaries. At the shorter ends, there are the teams' goals.
- Teams: Form teams with an equal number of players. Typically, each team includes 5 to 10 players, but larger team sizes are possible.
- Ball Positioning: Place the ball in the center of the playing field.
Gameplay
-
Game Start: Both teams start at their respective goals. At the sound of a starting signal, teams rush to the center of the field to gain control of the ball.
-
Ball Control: The ball may only be moved by physical body contact. Players may push, roll, or shove the ball but are not allowed to hold or carry it.
-
Objective: To score a goal, a team must get the ball completely across the opponent’s goal line.
-
Rules:
- Out of Bounds: If the ball leaves the field boundaries, it is brought back into play at a midpoint from where it went out.
-
Fouls: Rough physical contact, holding, or illegal blocking results in a free throw for the opposing team.
-
End of the Game: The game ends when a predetermined playtime is over or a team scores the pre-agreed number of goals. A typical game lasts about 15 to 30 minutes.
Strategic Tips
- Team Coordination: As the game relies heavily on physical ball movement, a coordinated team strategy is crucial. Players should have clear roles such as attackers, defenders, and goalkeepers.
- Ball Movement: Try to move the ball from the center to less crowded areas of the field.
- Body Positioning and Control: Use your body skillfully to shield opponents and direct the ball in the desired direction.
Erdball is a highly physical, team-based game requiring both fitness and strategic skill.
