Objective of the Game

The objective of Halli Galli is to collect all the cards. The player who holds all the cards by the end of the game, or the most cards when the game ends, is the winner.

Game Components

  • 56 cards featuring four different fruits (bananas, strawberries, limes, and plums) with varying numbers of fruits (from 1 to 5 of each fruit on a card).
  • A bell.

Setup

  1. Prepare the Cards: Shuffle all the cards thoroughly and distribute them evenly among all players. Each player creates a personal deck stacked face down in front of them.
  2. Position the Bell: Place the bell in the center of the table, accessible to all players.

Gameplay

  1. Turn Over Cards: Players take turns flipping the top card from their pile and placing it face up in front of them.
  2. Watch for Five: As soon as there are exactly 5 identical fruits visible on the face-up cards (across all players), players must quickly hit the bell.
  3. Correct Action: The fastest player who correctly identifies the 5 fruits and hits the bell first wins all the face-up cards and places them under their deck face down.
  4. Wrong Action: If a player hits the bell mistakenly, they have to give one of their collected cards to each of the other players.

End of the Game

The game ends when one player has all the cards, or when all cards have been collected. The player with the most cards wins.

Strategic Tips

  • Pay Attention: Keep an eye on the sum of fruits across all players, not just your own cards. Multitasking and observational skills are crucial.
  • Speed and Accuracy: Being fast is important, but make sure to avoid hitting the bell incorrectly, which costs you cards.

Variations

  • For an added challenge, introduce a rule where other sums (like six or seven fruits) count as well, altering the core speed and focus of the game.
