Objective of the Game
Rock Paper Scissors is a simple and quick game where two players simultaneously choose one of the three shapes: rock, paper, or scissors, with the aim of defeating the opponent's chosen shape.
Game Rules
-
Preparation: Two players face each other. No materials or equipment are required.
-
Shape Selection: Players count to three together or say "rock, paper, scissors" in unison. On "three" or after the word "scissors," both players simultaneously display a hand symbol representing one of the following options:
- Rock: A closed fist representing a rock.
- Paper: An open hand representing a sheet of paper.
-
Scissors: A fist with the index and middle fingers extended, representing a pair of scissors.
-
Determine the Winner:
- Scissors cuts paper: Scissors win against paper.
- Paper covers rock: Paper wins against rock.
- Rock crushes scissors: Rock wins against scissors.
- Tie: If both players choose the same shape, the round is a tie and played again.
Strategic Considerations
- Randomness: While often played for fun and at random, some players try to detect predictable patterns or use bluffs.
- Psychology: Observe your opponent's behavior in previous rounds. Some players like to change their choice after losing, while others may stick with a shape they feel comfortable with.
Special Variants
- Tournaments: Multiple rounds can be played to determine an overall winner.
- Extensions: Versions with more gestures (e.g., "Lizard, Spock") expand the traditional game to five or more options, changing the dynamics.
