Objective of the Game

The Pfänderspiel is a traditional children's game centered around retrieving personal items ("Pfänder") or performing funny tasks. The main enjoyment of the game comes from the creativity and spontaneity required to complete the tasks.

Game Components

• A collection of personal items from players as Pfänder. These can be coins, hair ties, keychains, etc. Items should not be valuable.
• A bowl, dish, or bag for collecting the Pfänder.

Number of Players

• Minimum: 3 players
• Maximum: No fixed limit, ideally 4-10 players

Preparation

1. Each player places a small personal item into the middle of the playing area. These items are called Pfänder and should be chosen carefully to ensure the player can retrieve them.
2. The Pfänder are mixed and collected in a container.

Gameplay

1. The game leader or a previously chosen player acts as the Judge.
2. The Judge randomly draws an item from the collection. Without revealing to whom the item belongs, the judge thinks of a task to be completed to retrieve the pawn.
3. Tasks can be funny, creative, or sometimes a bit challenging but should always remain within the players' comfort zones. Examples include:

6. Pretend to be an animal
7. The player whose pawn has been drawn must complete the task to get their item back. Often, a small humorous discussion takes place to modify or simplify the task.
8. After completing the task, the judge returns the pawn and draws the next item.
9. The game ends when all pawns have been reclaimed.

• Creativity: Since there are no fixed tasks, the creativity of the Judge plays a critical role in the game's flow.
• Collaboration: Sometimes, the tasks require the involvement of multiple players. This promotes team spirit.
