Objective of the Game
The objective of Tejo is to have your team's stones as close as possible to a target area while attempting to knock opposing stones out. The team with the highest score at the end of the rounds wins the game.
Setup
-
Playing Field: Tejo is played on a special court. There are two goal zones at each end of the playing field where the target area is marked. While there are no official dimensions, the endpoints should be adequately spaced to meet technical demands.
-
Equipment: Each player needs a Tejo metal disc. These are often made of metal or a composite material and have a specific weight.
Gameplay
- Throw: Players take turns throwing their Tejo from one end of the field to the other.
- Each player has a set number of throws per round (usually 2 or 4).
-
The disc should land as close as possible to the target mark.
-
Aim: The aim is to place the disc in the best scoring area of the target circle, achieving a "Bocina"-score or causing the "Moñona" effect by exploding targets within the ring.
-
Scoring: Points are awarded only to one team per round and correspond to the number of stones of that team that are closer than any opponent's stones.
-
Rounds: Tejo is played over several rounds, with scores recorded after each round.
Strategy and Tips
- Throwing Technique: Ensure you throw the disc evenly and with the proper momentum.
- Placement: Try to knock the opponent's discs out of the scoring area with your throw.
- Attack and Defense: Consider whether each throw should be aggressive and scoring or more defensive to block the target area.
Special Considerations
- Different variants and rules exist, depending on where it is played.
- Safety should be observed, especially when playing with heavy or metallic discs.
This game requires skill and strategic thinking and offers a lot of fun for all ages.
