Objective of the Game
The objective of "Bohemian Tailor" is to correctly predict the number of fingers shown by all players simultaneously. The fun lies in the unpredictability and trying to outguess or surprise your opponents.
Preparation
- Number of Players: The game can be played with a minimum of 4 players, with no strict maximum, although it should be sensible given the group size.
- Materials: No materials are needed, just the players' hands.
Gameplay
- Start: All players sit in a circle where everyone can see each other.
- Declaration: One player starts by calling out a number between 0 and twice the number of players. This number is supposed to be the sum total of fingers that players will show.
- Example: With four players, the declared number can be any value from 0 to 8.
- Showing Fingers: After the number is declared, all players simultaneously raise any number of fingers on one hand or none at all (fist).
- Determine Sum: Add up the number of fingers shown.
- Check: If the prediction matches the actual sum, the player who made the correct guess wins. The winner gets to begin the next round.
- Repeat: If the prediction is incorrect, the next player clockwise makes a prediction for the next round.
Strategies
- Psychology: Try to gauge the mindset and preferences of your opponents – do they tend to show many fingers or few?
- Bluffing: Mislead others by, for example, naming high numbers but showing a fist yourself.
- Pattern Recognition: Observe playing patterns and adapt your guesses accordingly.
This game is a simple, quick party game that brings lots of laughter and surprises, as it relies on spontaneous decisions and unpredictability.
