Objective
In Lakota, the objective is to score points by skillfully stacking sticks. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Components
- 1 set of sticks in various colors (usually 50 pieces)
- 1 die with special functions
Setup
- Place the sticks within reach of all players in the center of the table.
- Each player takes a place around the table; there is no specific starting position.
Gameplay
The game proceeds clockwise.
- Start Round: The starting player rolls the die.
- Dice Function: The number or symbol rolled indicates how many sticks (or a special action) the player can take during their turn.
- Stack Sticks: The player takes the indicated number of sticks and stacks them on top or adds them to an existing stack. Care must be taken not to topple the stack.
- Strategy: It is advisable to place sticks centrally and stably to make stacking harder for subsequent players.
- Stack Falls: If the stack collapses, the player who caused it to fall must skip their next turn. Additionally, they may have a certain number of sticks not counted at the end of the game.
End of the Game
The game ends when all sticks are stacked or a predetermined score is reached. Points are counted based on the stacks: - Scoring: Each stable stack earns points. - The player with the most points wins the game. In case of a tie, there is no winner or a tie-breaker is played.
Special Dice Actions
- Special Rolls: Some die options allow a player to take another stick or steal one from another player.
Strategic Tips
- Dexterity: Requires a steady hand and strategic foresight to build the best stacks.
- Tactics: Sometimes taking a risky move can be strategic to condition the next player.
