Objective of the Game
Concept is a communicative and creative board game where the goal is to guess words through placing markers on a board that features various icons, without speaking. The objective is for the players to guess the concepts being represented.
Game Components
- 1 game board with different icons (e.g., animals, colors, shapes)
- 110 cards with 9 words each, divided into three difficulty levels
- A set of large and small pawns in five colors
- 1 set of small cubes matching the color of the pawns
- 1 large question mark pawn for the main concept
- 2 score sheets
Setup
- Place the game board in the center of the table.
- Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a stack.
- Each player or team receives a score sheet.
Game Play
-
Choosing a Concept: The active player draws a card and selects one word they want to explain. The card includes words divided into three difficulty levels: easy, medium, hard.
-
Explaining the Concept:
- Place the large question mark pawn on an icon representing the main concept of the word.
-
Use small cubes to add details. Each cube matches a color of one of the five additional concept pawns.
-
Guessing the Concept: Other players use logical deduction and teamwork to guess the concept.
-
Scoring:
- If the word is correctly guessed, both the active player and the guessed player receive a point on the score sheet.
-
Additional points can be awarded based on prior agreements.
-
Next Player: The next player clockwise becomes the active player and selects a new word to explain.
Winning the Game
The game ends after a set number of rounds or once a pre-determined score is reached. The player or team with the most points wins the game.
Strategic Tips
- Think creatively! Sometimes the word might be hard to describe directly, so it's useful to use icons in innovative combinations.
- Teamwork: Engage in discussions about the meaning of the icons, as brainstorming often leads to the best results.
- Watch the clock: Lingering too long can make other players impatient. Consider setting a time limit per round to keep the game exciting.
Special Features and Nuances
- Select the difficulty level of the word appropriate to the player group to avoid frustration and keep the game flow optimal.
- Experienced players might introduce additional rules, such as limiting the number of markers used to increase difficulty.
