Objective of the Game
Werewords is a cooperative party game where players try to guess a secret word by asking Yes/No questions. The villagers work together to find the word, while the werewolf tries to prevent them.
Game Components
- Role cards (Villager, Seer, Werewolf, Mayor)
- App or cards with secret words
- Tokens for Yes, No, Maybe, and a star
Setup
- Distribute Roles: Players draw hidden roles. Each player can be a Villager, Werewolf, Seer, or Mayor.
- Secret Word: The Mayor knows the secret word and answers questions.
- App Setup: Optionally, an app is used to provide the secret word and facilitate the game flow.
Gameplay
- Identify the Secret Word: The Mayor secretly reads and memorizes the secret word from the app or word card.
- Question Round: Other players ask the Mayor questions, which can only be answered with Yes, No, Maybe, or a star. The Mayor responds and places the corresponding token.
- Time Limit: An hourglass or the app can restrict the time. The word must be guessed within this time.
Strategies and Nuances
- Seer's Caution: The Seer also knows the word and attempts to guide the team without revealing their identity, as the Werewolf aims to target them.
- Werewolf's Skill: The Werewolf tries to mislead the group without being detected as the werewolf.
- Mayor Role Shift: The Mayor might also be the Werewolf, so caution is needed not to overly trust them during questions.
Game End
- Villagers win if the word is guessed.
- The Werewolf wins if the word is not guessed. Alternatively, the villagers can still win by correctly identifying the werewolf.
Werewords is a quick and dynamic game that fosters logical thinking, communication, and teamwork.
