Objective of the Game

The goal of Boule is to place your own balls as close as possible to the target ball, also known as the jack or cochonnet.

Boule Balls: Each player typically uses 2 to 3 balls, depending on the number of players per team.
Target Ball: Known as the jack, small and usually made of wood or plastic.
Measuring Tool: A tape measure can be helpful for measuring distances between balls.

Form Teams: Boule can be played one-on-one or in teams. In doubles (two teams or players), each player has 3 balls; in triples (two teams of 3 players each), each player has 2 balls.
Playing Field: There are no fixed dimensions. Usually played on a gravel court, but any flat surface will do.

Throw the Jack: A player is chosen to throw the target ball. It must land between 6 to 10 meters away from the starting point.
Throwing Balls: The same player throws the first Boule ball as close to the target ball as possible.
Subsequent Throws: The opposing team or player then throws a ball to attempt to get closer to the target. If they fail, they continue throwing until they get a ball closer than the other team.
Alternate Turns: Once a team or player gets a ball closer to the target than the opposition, the turn passes to the other team.
Shooting or Rolling: Players can choose to "place" their ball by rolling it near the target or "shoot" to knock opposing balls out of the way.

After all balls are thrown, the team with balls closest to the target scores one point for each ball closer than the opponent’s nearest ball.
Multiple rounds are played. The first team to reach 13 points wins.

Team Strategies: Team discussions can help in blocking opponents or better positioning your own balls.
