Objective of the Game

Paku Paku is a quick and fun dice game where players compete to roll dice while trying to stack as few dishes as possible. The objective of the game is to have the fewest penalty points at the end, which result from mishaps while stacking dishes.

Game Components

  • 5 special dice
  • 24 dish parts (4 large bowls, 6 medium bowls, 6 small bowls, 8 cups)
  • Scorekeeping items like pen and paper to note penalty points

Number of Players

The game can be played with 2 to 8 players.

Setup

  1. In the first round, each player starts with no stack. In subsequent rounds, each player, starting with the player with the most penalty points from the previous round, begins with a basic stack of dish parts.
  2. The dice are placed in the center of the table.

Game Play

The game consists of several rounds, with each round involving the following steps:

  1. Rolling Dice: The starting player takes all five dice and rolls them. The results may show:
  2. Panda Symbol: The player gives a panda die to the left player and continues rolling the remaining dice.
  3. Dish Symbol: The player must stack another dish part onto their stack.
  4. Numerical Values (1-3): The player can choose to ignore these or re-roll them.

  5. Passing Dice: If a die shows a panda symbol, it is immediately passed to the player on the left, adding it to their pile of dice, increasing the pace and chaos as multiple players roll simultaneously.

  6. Stopping the Round: If a player believes another player has a precarious number of dishware, they can shout "Paku Stop" to end the round.

  7. Assigning Penalty Points: At the end of the round, the player with the largest stack of dishes gets the most penalty points, depending on the number of items in the stack. Points are recorded.

Special Rules and Strategies

  • Dish Arrangement: Strategic arrangements can add stability to prevent tipping.
  • Focus on panda symbols to rapidly hand off dice to other players, increasing their chance of errors.
  • Simultaneous Play: Because dice are rolled at the same time in hectic situations, it's crucial to focus on your dice and promptly react.

End of the Game

The game concludes after a predetermined number of rounds or when a player reaches a certain point threshold (e.g., 30 points). The player with the fewest penalty points wins.

Precision, speed, and well-considered risk decisions are key to success in Paku Paku! Enjoy the game!
