Objective of the Game
The objective of Foosball, also known as Table Soccer, is to score goals into the opponent's net while defending your own. The winner is the team that scores a predetermined number of goals first or has the most goals after a specified time.
Game Setup
A foosball game is played on a specialized rectangular table equipped with control rods. Players or figures attached to these rods act as the "players". Each team has four rows of figures: 1. Goalkeeper row (1 figure) 2. Defense row (2 figures) 3. Midfield row (5 figures) 4. Attack row (3 figures)
Materials
- A foosball table
- One ball
- Two teams (usually two players per team)
Basic Rules
- Kick Off: The ball is placed at the center of the field at the start of the match or after a goal is scored. A player from the team that conceded the goal starts the ball by using the midfield row.
- No Spinning: The rods must not be rotated more than 360 degrees in a movement. Continuous spinning of the rods is forbidden.
- Ball Possession: The ball is "possessed" by the team whose figures last controlled it.
- Goals: A goal is scored when the ball fully crosses the goal line.
- Game Time and Point Limit: Games can be time-limited or played to a specific number of goals (e.g., 5 or 10).
Strategy and Tactics
- Defense is just as important as offense; a solid defense can be key to winning.
- Quick Passes between rows can catch the opponent off guard.
- Positioning of the player figures is crucial to prevent the opponent from exploiting gaps in the defense.
- Rotational Defense for quick shifting between offense and defense.
Special Variations
- Tournament Rules: Sometimes stricter regulations apply, such as time limits for ball possession.
- Doubles: Two players per team, with each player controlling two rods.
Enjoy playing and remember that fair play and fun are just as important as winning!
