Objective of the Game
The goal of "Polarity" is to place as many of your playing pieces (discs) on the board as possible without them tipping or falling due to magnetic attraction or repulsion. The player with the most stable discs on the board at the end wins.
Game Materials
- A circular game board
- Game pieces (discs) in two colors, usually black and white
- A set of neutral stones
Setup
- Each player chooses a color for their game pieces.
- Place the neutral stone in the middle of the board.
- Players then alternate placing their base pieces in a designated starting area of the board until all base pieces are set.
- The main game begins.
Gameplay
1. Magnetic Placement
- Each player, in turn, selects a piece from their supply to use as a "hovering object."
- This hovering object must be held over the neutral stone or other already placed discs without touching the ground.
- As long as the piece is hovering, no already placed pieces on the board should tip or move due to magnetic force.
2. Stable Placement
- If you successfully hover without causing other discs to react, you can place your hovering object where it can be left without tipping.
3. Failures and Reactions
- If a disc tips or falls, it results in a fault.
- If a placed disc moves due to magnetic interaction during hovering, your opponent can actually lift and reposition the shifted discs.
Gameplay Nuances
- Strategic placements are crucial to making the opponent's discs tip or react without having your disc tip.
- Controlling magnetic balance and understanding the force fields around the discs are critical.
End of the Game
The game ends when a player has placed all their discs. The player with the most stably placed pieces on the board is the winner.
The better you handle the physical properties of the discs, the more success you will have in "Polarity."
