Objective of the Game
Activity Codeword is a communicative party game where the goal is to guess words. Players are divided into two teams that compete against each other. The team that demonstrates the most communicative skill and correctly guesses the most words wins the game.
Game Setup
- Team Division: Divide the players into two teams.
- Prepare Materials: Each player receives writing material. Additionally, cards with different words are needed. These words are categorized into categories such as "Persons," "Places," or "Objects."
- Game Board: The board consists of a path with fields; each team starts at the starting field.
Gameplay
- Round Process:
- A player from the active team draws a card and tries to explain the word listed on it to their team without using the word itself or related words.
- The words may be acted out through drawing, pantomime, or verbal description. Note the category, which might influence the style of presentation.
- For each correctly guessed card, the team advances on the game path.
- Time Limit:
- In each round, the players explaining the word have only a limited time frame (e.g., 1 minute) to convey the word.
- Guessing:
- The guessing team member may make as many attempts as needed to guess the correct word.
Special Rules
- Timer and Scoring: A timer can be used to monitor the time. Each correct answer earns the team a point or allows it to move forward on the game board.
- Special Fields: The game board may have special effects, such as needing to explain a harder word, which earns more points.
- Rules for Forbidden Words: If a player explaining the word accidentally uses the word directly, the card is declared invalid, and the team earns no points.
Strategic Tips
- Task Delegation: A good strategy might involve delegating tasks so that each player can use their strengths optimally, e.g., the talented artist takes the drawing rounds.
- Category Knowledge: Being aware of the word categories can help in quickly reaching the correct solution.
- Efficient Communication: Try to give quick and clear hints in order not to confuse your guesser.
End of the Game
The game ends when one team reaches the finish line or after a predetermined number of rounds. The team that has advanced the farthest on the game board or collected the most points wins.
This game is ideal for fostering creativity and communication among friends or family, providing a joyful and entertaining time.
