Objective of the Game
The goal of Ditschen is to throw your coins as close as possible to a wall or a designated target. The player whose coin is closest to the target wins the round.
Game Materials
- Coins: Each player receives the same number of coins, typically at least three. Usually, smaller coins such as dimes or quarters are used.
- A flat surface: An open area, ideally a sidewalk or courtyard.
- A target wall or target point: A straight surface towards which the coins are to be thrown, typically a wall.
Gameplay

Set the starting position: Players agree on a starting line from which the coins will be thrown. This line should be at a reasonable distance from the target wall (usually about 15-30 feet).

Determine the order: Players decide in which order they will throw. This can be determined by drawing lots or another random method.

Throw coins: Each player throws their coins one at a time towards the target wall. Each coin is thrown individually.

Evaluate: After all players have thrown their coins, it is determined which player's coin is closest to the target wall. This player wins the round.

Determine the winner: The player who wins the most rounds is ultimately declared the winner of the game.
Strategic Tips
- Throwing technique: A smooth, skilled throwing motion helps you place the coin accurately. Some players prefer to let the coin slide along the ground, while others aim it to fly directly towards the wall.
- Ground condition: Pay attention to the surface! If the area is uneven, it can greatly affect the coin's behavior.
- Control the rebound: Try to control the impact when throwing to ensure the coin lands close to the target.

- Only in Germany and a few other countries is the game known as Ditschen.
- There are variations where the coin must hit the wall to count.
