Family Game, Party Game

Objective of the Game

Poi, also known as Sardines, is a fun and simple hide-and-seek style game with a twist: instead of many seekers finding one hider, the roles are reversed. One person hides, and everyone else seeks. The objective of the game is to find the hidden person and then stealthily hide with them until all players are hidden.

Number of Players

  • Minimum: 3 players
  • Maximum: Unlimited, depending on the available space.

Game Setup

  1. Decide who will hide first. This person is known as the Hider.
  2. Choose a Starting Point where the seekers will close their eyes and count.
  3. The seekers jointly count to 50 (or an agreed time) with closed eyes.

Game Flow

  1. The Hider takes the time while the seekers are counting to find a hiding spot.
  2. After the counting time is up, the Seekers open their eyes and start looking for the hidden person.
  3. When a seeker finds the hider, they try to discreetly join them and hide in the same spot.
  4. The seeker, who finds the hider last, becomes the next Hider.
  5. The game repeats until players wish to stop or space becomes a limitation.

Important Terms

  • Starting Point: The place where seekers close their eyes and count.
  • Hider: The first person to hide, who the other players must find.

Strategic Tips

  • Observe: Seekers should avoid revealing the hiding spot to others while searching.
  • Stay Calm: If found as a hider, do not move or make noise to avoid alerting other seekers.
