Objective of the Game
PacManhattan transforms the streets of a real city into a live version of the Pac-Man game. Players take on the roles of Pac-Man and the ghosts. Pac-Man needs to collect points while avoiding being caught by the ghosts.
Setup
- Location: A real city area is designated as the game zone, often modeled after Manhattan's street grid, which is why the game name includes "Manhattan."
- Roles: Choose players to become Pac-Man and the Ghosts.
- Coordination: A Headquarters oversees the game and communicates with Pac-Man and the ghosts via computer and mobile contacts.
Rules
The "Pac-Man" player must run through streets to symbolically collect points.
- Pac-Man: This player must follow a specified route and collect event cards at designated points.
- Ghosts: Four players act as ghosts (Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde) who attempt to catch Pac-Man.
- Communication: Both Pac-Man and the ghosts can communicate with the headquarters through mobile phones for hints without revealing exact locations.
- Time Limit: The game is played within a set time limit. Pac-Man aims to collect as many points as possible before getting caught.
Game Conditions and Strategies
- Coordination and Strategy are essential, relying on fast information and swift decisions.
- Headquarters must monitor both Pac-Man and the ghosts to keep the game balanced.
- Memorizing Routes: Pac-Man should memorize an efficient path to gather points while avoiding capture.
- Ambush Tactics: Ghosts can use shortcuts and predict Pac-Man's route to attempt surprise captures.
Winning Conditions
Pac-Man wins if all points are collected within the time frame without being caught. The ghosts win if they capture Pac-Man before he completes his mission.
