Objective of the Game
In Ochse leg dich (also known as "Ochs am Berg" or "Schwein gacker"), the goal is to be the first to reach the finish line without being spotted by the game leader.
Materials Needed
- No specific materials are needed
- A clearly defined start and finish area
Number of Players
Ochse leg dich can be played with several players, typically from 4 players upwards.
Setup
- One player is selected as the game leader.
- The remaining players start in the starting area.
- The game leader stands a few meters away from the other players and looks towards the finish.
Game Flow
- The game leader clearly says: "Ochse leg dich" and then quickly turns around.
- While the game leader is speaking and then turns around, the other players may move towards the finish.
- As soon as the game leader turns around, all players must freeze like statues.
- If the game leader spots a still-moving player, they may send them back to the start.
- The game leader then turns around again and repeats the process.
- The game continues until a player reaches the finish line.
Special Notes and Strategies
- Deception Maneuvers: Players can try to distract or confuse the game leader by making unusual and unexpected movements.
- Winning Goal: The first player to reach the finish without being caught moving wins.
- Strategic Stops: A good tactician knows when to make abrupt stops to avoid being detected.
Variations
- Three Lives: Instead of being sent back only once, players can have multiple chances (e.g., three lives).
- Team Mode: Players can be divided into teams, and the first team whose members reach the goal wins.
Conclusion
Ochse leg dich is a quick and fun game that requires no equipment and is perfect for children or as a warm-up game for parties.
