Objective
Sherlook is a visual perception game where players compete to identify differences between two nearly identical crime scene photos as quickly as possible. The objective is to evaluate the photos and find the discrepancies faster than your opponents.
Components
- 40 Crime Scene Double-Sided Cards: Cards displaying nearly identical images of a crime scene.
- 10 Detective Markers: Point markers with values from 1-10 indicating the number of differences.
- Hourglass: Measures the time needed to identify the differences.
Setup
- Shuffle all crime scene double-sided cards and place them in the center of the table.
- Shuffle the detective markers and place them in a stack. Each marker shows a number representing the detected differences.
- Determine the starting player.
Gameplay
- The starting player reveals the top crime scene card and sets the hourglass.
- All players examine the two pictures and try to spot the differences.
- As soon as a player believes they have identified all differences, they take the detective marker corresponding to their estimate and place it in front of them.
- Other players have a few more seconds to make their assessment.
- Once the time is up, the images are reviewed together, and the correct number of differences is confirmed.
Scoring
- The player who chooses the marker with the correct or closest estimate wins points depending on the discrepancy between their choice and the actual number of differences.
- In case of equal discrepancies, the player who chose first wins.
End of the Game
The game ends when all crime scene cards have been used. The player with the most correctly identified differences and the most points wins.
Strategic Tips
- Focus first on obvious differences, those that are immediately apparent.
- Use the hourglass as pressure, as quick decisions often result in success.
- Develop systematic search patterns (e.g., from left to right or top to bottom) to ensure no area is overlooked.
With these rules and tips, you're all set for your first game of Sherlook!
