Objective of the Game
Artistic Pool (also known as Artistic Billiards) is a billiard game that requires both skill and creative thinking. The main goal is to complete a series of trick and artistic shots according to predefined instructions, collecting points in the process.
Game Setup
- A pool table, typically used for billiards.
- A set of 16 billiard balls: one cue ball (white) and 15 object balls.
- A cue stick for each player.
- A rulebook or a list of trick shots to be executed during the game.
Gameplay
- Setup: Balls are placed on the table according to specific setups required for each trick shot.
- Turn Order: Players take turns executing their trick shots. Each player has the same setup and task.
- Executing the Shot: The player must try to successfully perform the required trick shot. Successfully executing a shot earns the player the points assigned to that shot.
- Scoring: Trick shots are generally scored based on difficulty, with more complex shots awarding more points.
- Failure and Reattempts: If the player misses, they usually have a set number of retry attempts to complete the shot successfully.
Strategic Tips
- Precision is Crucial: Since these are trick shots, precise placement and force are key. Practice your stroke technique to hit the balls accurately.
- Visualize Before Taking the Shot: Imagine the entire movement, including the effects on the object balls, before executing the shot.
- Develop a Feel for the Game: Frequent practice on different surfaces and conditions can help develop better game sense.
- Mental Preparedness: Concentration and confidence can be just as important. Even minor doubts can affect shot quality.
Game End
The game ends when all planned trick shots are attempted or a predetermined point limit is reached. The player with the most points wins the game. In a competition, there might be a jury awarding extra points for style and creativity.
Artistic Pool is an ideal mix of skill and creativity, suitable for solo challenges and thrilling competitions among friends or in tournaments.
