Objective of the Game
Messerln is a dexterity game where players try to throw a knife from certain distances into a wooden block or the ground so that it sticks. The goal is to score more points than the opponents by successfully throwing the knife in different game rounds.
Game Materials
- A knife suitable for throwing. A robust, well-balanced throwing knife is ideal.
- A wooden block or suitable surface that can absorb the knife upon impact.
- A free, safe space that provides enough room for the throwing distance and poses no danger to spectators or objects.
Rules of the Game
- Setup:
- Players stand in a line behind a set line.
-
The wooden block is at a certain distance, depending on the difficulty level set.
-
Order:
- Determine the order of players randomly or by agreement.
-
The order remains the same throughout the game or can rotate after each round.
-
The Throw:
- Each player throws the knife one after the other at the wooden block.
- The objective is to throw the knife so that it sticks in the wood.
-
Each player has a certain number of throw attempts per round (usually three).
-
Scoring:
- A successful throw where the knife sticks scores points (e.g., one point per hit).
-
If no one scores, the next round begins without awarding any points.
-
Winner:
- The game ends after a predetermined number of rounds.
- The player with the most points wins the game.
Throwing Strategies
- Grip and Alignment: Hold the knife by the handle and make sure it stays straight when throwing.
- Body Posture: Stand slightly bent for more control over the throw.
- Throwing Power: Practice with different throw strengths; often, a powerful yet controlled throw is most effective.
Safety Considerations
- Always throw towards the block and ensure that no people or animals are in the throwing and impact area.
- Ensure only one person throws at a time.
This game is a dexterity and concentration exercise that should be performed with caution.
