Objective of the Game
The objective of the game "Taler, Taler, Du musst wandern" is to pass the coin (a token or small item) from player to player until the game leader or a timer indicates the end. The player holding the coin at the end loses the round or has to perform a task.
Materials Needed
- Taler (Coin): A coin or a small object.
Number of Players
- Minimum: 3 players
- Maximum: Not fixed, ideally 5 - 10 players for a smooth game experience.
Game Setup
- Circle Formation: All players sit in a circle.
- Select a Game Leader: One person is chosen as the game leader who is not part of the circle.
- Select a Coin: The game leader receives the coin (small object).
How to Play
-
Begin: The game leader starts singing a song or reciting a previously chosen chant: "Taler, Taler, you must wander, from one hand to another. That is nice, that is nice, Taler stop here!"
-
Passing the Coin: While the leader sings, the coin is passed from player to player in the circle. Players should ensure the passing is done smoothly.
-
Stop: As soon as the leader stops the chant or the song finishes, the passing stops. The player holding the coin has now lost and should either undergo a small task or leave the round, as per agreement.
-
Repeat: A new round begins until a pre-determined winner is found or all players have played.
Strategies and Tips
- Distractions: Players can try to distract others to obscure the passing process.
- Speed: Maintaining a quick but not rushed pace helps avoid surprises in timing.
- Alertness: Readiness and quick reflexes are key to passing the coin inconspicuously.
Variation
The game can be enhanced by adding more challenging tasks for the player with the coin at the end of the round or by incorporating several coins at the same time.
