Objective of the Game

Mortheim is a tabletop strategy game set in a ruined fantasy city called Mordheim. The main objective is to defeat rival warbands and collect Wyrdstone. Each faction has its own goals, and the game is characterized by tactical battles and strategic resource management.

Setup

1. Create Warband: Each player assembles a warband consisting of a specified number of models. They choose a faction and spend a set budget to acquire leaders, heroes, and henchmen.
2. Build the Game Board: Set up the board with various terrain pieces to represent the ruins of Mortheim.
3. Choose a Scenario: Choose a scenario from the rulebook, which sets out victory conditions and special rules.

Basic Mechanics

• Round Structure: The game is played in rounds, divided into player turns. Each player completes their turn before the next player begins. A turn consists of:
• Movement Phase: Models may move according to their movement value. Terrain affects movement abilities.
• Shooting Phase: Models with ranged weapons can attempt to shoot at enemy models.
• Combat Phase: Models in close proximity enter melee combat, resolving attacks against each other.
• Morale Phase: Evaluate if the warband is required to take a leadership test, triggered under specific conditions (e.g., losing a certain number of models).

Combat

• Ranged Combat: To shoot, roll a D6; a successful hit is modified by the weapon's hit rating and the target's cover.
• Melee Combat: Both opposing models roll to compare their combat abilities. The winner is allowed to deal damage.
• Wounds: Each successful wound reduces a model's hit points. When reduced to 0 hit points, the model is removed from play.

Winning the Game

Depending on the chosen scenario, victory can be achieved by completing specific missions, collecting Wyrdstone, or eliminating the opposing warband.

• Use Cover: Protect your models from enemy fire by skillfully utilizing terrain pieces.
• Maximize Combat Strength: Deploy your strongest fighters to strategically weaken the enemy.
