Objective
The objective of Hitster Bingo is to recognize songs and cover them on your bingo card by completing a full row, diagonal, or the entire sheet within the rules of the game. Players will show off their music knowledge and pop culture savvy as they strategically mark off selections on their bingo card.
Setup
- Distribute Bingo Cards: Each player receives a bingo card. These cards feature a grid of spaces filled with different song titles or artist names.
- Prepare a Music Playlist: Either a pre-defined playlist that comes with the game is used, or one player acts as the DJ and plays various songs from a music streaming service.
- Provide Marking Tools: Players need pens or markers to check off the songs or artists on their bingo cards.
Gameplay
- Play a Song: The DJ or game system starts a song.
- Recognition: Players listen and try to identify the song title or artist.
- Cover: Once they identify a song on their bingo card, they quickly mark that space.
- Collaboration or Individual Play: Depending on the version, players may collaborate or independently try to finish their cards.
- Shout Out: As soon as a player completes a row, diagonal, or the full bingo card, they shout "Bingo!" to interrupt the game round.
- Verification: The DJ checks if all marked spaces are correct and match the played song. Incorrectly marked spaces may lead to a penalty, such as skipping a game round.
Special Features and Details
- Variations: A point system is often in place where not only song recognition but also additional details such as the release year or album are rewarded with extra points.
- Strategy: By estimating music styles or decades that haven't been played yet, players can plan their next moves. Using knowledge of popular artists or hits from specific decades strategically can be beneficial.
- Music Discovery: Occasionally, unfamiliar songs are intentionally included in the playlist to test participants' musical knowledge and encourage new discoveries.
End of the Game
The game ends either when someone calls "Bingo!" and their card is correctly verified or after a predetermined number of songs. A new round can start afterward, or an overall winner is determined based on points.
