Auf die Nüsse!

Objective

The objective of Auf die Nüsse! is to score the most points by collecting combinations of dice. The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins.

Components

  • 5 special dice
  • Score pad
  • Pen
  • Rulebook

Setup

  1. Each player receives a section on the score pad to record their points.
  2. Determine a starting player who will begin the game.

Gameplay

Auf die Nüsse! is played over several rounds, with each player taking turns to roll the dice.

Rolling the Dice

  • A player rolls all five dice.
  • The player may choose which dice to keep and which to reroll. This can happen up to three times in total to achieve optimal combinations.

Possible Combinations

  • Twig (1 point per squirrel): Each squirrel symbol provides 1 point.
  • Nuts (2 points per nut): Each nut gives 2 points.
  • Reserve (Three of a kind, 5 points): Three of the same symbols provide 5 points.
  • Log (Four of a kind, 10 points): Four of the same symbols give 10 points.
  • Squirrel Parade (Five of a kind, 15 points): All five dice showing the same symbol gives 15 points.

Scoring

After a player's turn, they write down their scores on the score pad for the respective round.

End of the Game

The game ends after a predetermined number of rounds or when the score pad is fully completed. The player with the highest score wins.

Strategic Considerations

  • Risk versus Reward: It might be beneficial to go for specific combinations even if it risks ending up with fewer points in that round.
  • Roll Optimization: Consider future turns when deciding which dice to keep.

Special Features

  • Players can communicate during their turns to advise or mislead others regarding potential risks or rewards.
  • Even though it is considered a party game, it encourages strategic thought and planning.
