Objective of the Game
Hitster is a music-based board game where players must arrange songs in chronological order based on their release years. The aim is to be the first player to create a complete chronological playlist.
Number of Players and Game Materials
- Players: 2 to 10 players
- Components: A deck of music cards, optionally a music streaming device with Internet access
Setup
- Shuffle the Deck: Shuffle the music cards thoroughly.
- Deal Cards: Each player starts with five music cards.
- Prepare Streaming Device: Ensure a streaming device is ready to play the songs.
Gameplay
- Determine Starting Player: Choose a starting player.
- Draw Card: The starting player draws the top card from the draw pile and adds it to their playlist.

- Reveal: Once placed, the player reveals the card to check the release year. If correctly positioned, the card remains.
- End Turn: Turns pass clockwise.
- Winning: The first player to have a complete and correctly ordered chronological playlist of 10 cards wins the game.
Special Rules
- Joker Use: Players can request a hint once per round, providing the decade the song was released in.
Strategic Tips
- Leverage Music Knowledge: Memories of famous events around a song can help to pin down the right year.
- Use Jokers Wisely: Limited jokers should be used strategically in difficult situations.
End of Game
The game ends when a player first has a full, correctly sorted chronological playlist.
