Objective

The game "Der Kaiser schickt seine Soldaten aus" is a simple children's game ideally suited as a movement or circle game.

Preparation

  • No special equipment is required.
  • Ideally played in an open space.
  • Players (minimum 4) form a circle.

Game Play

  1. One player is designated as the Emperor.
  2. The Emperor stands outside of the circle and starts the game by saying, “The Emperor sends his soldiers out with the order to…”
  3. The Emperor finishes the sentence with a movement command like "hopping on one leg," "jumping like a frog," or "crawling on your knees."
  4. All players must perform the given command and continue these actions while moving within the circle.

Special Rules

  • The Emperor observes the players. If someone does not perform their movement correctly or hesitates to follow the command, the Emperor can send that player to the center of the circle.
  • The player who accurately and swiftly follows the commands the longest may be appointed as the next Emperor.

Strategies

  • Observation Skills: Pay close attention to what movements the Emperor commands and how other players perform them. Observing closely can lead to creative solutions or help avoid being sent to the center.
  • Focus: Constant concentration helps in executing the commands quickly and correctly.

The game ends when every player has had a turn as the Emperor, or after a predetermined time.
