Objective of the Game

The goal of Darts is to reach a specific score by throwing darts at a target board. Typically, two players or teams compete with the objective of being the first to reach a predetermined score, such as 301 or 501, exactly.

Equipment

  • Dartboard: Comprised of numbered segments with different scores from 1 to 20, plus an outer and inner bullseye.
  • Darts: Each player uses three darts, which are small, pointed throwing weapons.

Basic Rules

  1. Starting Score: Each player starts with a score of, for example, 501 (or 301).
  2. Throwing Order: Players take turns throwing three darts each at the board.
  3. Scoring: The points scored are deducted from the starting score. The goal is to reach exactly zero.
  4. Finishing: To win, a player must finish on a double or the inner bullseye, meaning the last dart must land in one of the double ring segments or the bullseye (50 points).
  5. Bust Rule: If a player scores more than the required amount or fails to land on zero with their last dart, the entire throw is invalid ("Bust"), and the player's score remains as before the throw.

Strategy Tips

  • Triple 20: The highest scoring segment is the triple 20 (60 points per dart). Skilled players often aim for this area to reduce their score quickly.
  • Double Out: Since you must finish with a double, plan your throws so you leave yourself with a common and comfortable double combination for the endgame.

Special Features

  • Bullseye: The outer bullseye circle scores 25 points, while the inner scores 50 points and also counts as a double.
  • Variants: Darts can be played with different starting scores and special rules, such as "Double-In" or "Out-Shot" combinations.
