Objective
Schummellieschen is a fun card game where the aim is to get rid of all your cards as soon as possible. The twist is that cheating is allowed when discarding cards!
Components
- 72 cards, consisting of number cards (1 to 5) and special action cards.
Setup
- Shuffle all cards thoroughly.
- Deal 8 cards to each player.
- The remaining cards form a draw pile, with the top card placed face up as the discard pile's starting card.
Card Types and Special Cards
- Number Cards (1 to 5): These make up the main part of the game.
- Special Cards:
- Cheating Moth (Schummellieschen): These cards cannot be discarded in the standard way and must be secretly disposed of.
- Ant: When played, choose another player who must draw 2 cards.
- Cockroach: The direction of play reverses.
- Mosquito: All players try to slap the mosquito card. The slowest player draws two cards.
- Spider: The player who plays the spider gives another player one card from their hand.
Gameplay
- The player to the left of the dealer starts and places one of their cards on the discard pile.
- The discarded card must match the top card of the discard pile or be one number higher/lower. Special cards can often be played regardless of the top card.
- Cheating: Players may try to secretly dispose of cards. All cards except the Cheating Moth can be discarded in this way.
- If caught cheating, the player must take back the card and draw another as a penalty.
- The next player takes their turn.
- A player holding a Cheating Moth must get rid of it clandestinely before winning.
Ending
- The game ends when a player has no cards left, declaring them the winner.
Strategy Tips
- Diversion: Carefully dropping cards or diverting attention is key to success.
- Observation: Watch others closely and call out if you think they are cheating.
- Coordination: Discuss possible alliances or observation techniques with fellow players.
This game is perfect for players who enjoy a bit of mischief, strategic plays, and a chaotic, lively atmosphere.
