Objective
In Gangster City, you take on the role of a detective trying to identify a mysterious criminal. The goal of the game is to be the first player or team to determine the correct details of a crime: the perpetrator, the motive, the weapon, and the crime scene.
Components
- 54 Suspect Cards (9 different characters each in 6 colors)
- 24 Solution Cards (each depicting a complete crime)
- Clue Cards
- Cardholders for each player
Setup
- Shuffle the Solution Cards and place them face-down in the center of the table.
- Each player draws a solution card without looking at it and places it in their holder, so that only the other players can see it.
- Shuffle the Suspect Cards and place them face down as a draw stack in the middle of the table. Each player draws four cards and lays them face-up in front of themselves.
- Place the Clue Cards within reach.
Gameplay
Gangster City is played in turns, moving clockwise. A player takes on the role of the active detective and tries to solve the mystery by gathering clues.
- Take a Clue: The active detective takes a Clue Card, which allows them to draw a new Suspect Card or, preferably, analyze another player's Solution Card to gain relevant information.
- Understand Explanations: Other players provide the active detective with tips based on the cards they have laid out in front of them.
- Formulate a Hypothesis: The active detective can hypothesize about their Solution Card when they believe they know all four aspects. This is done after careful analysis of the clues.
Winning Conditions
A player or team wins the game by being the first to correctly guess, based on the Solution Card, the perpetrator, motive, weapon, and crime scene.
Strategic Tips
- Deductive Thinking: Utilize deductive abilities to correctly interpret the clues.
- Listen Carefully: Pay attention to what other players say about their Solution Cards and use this information to find your solution.
- Psychological Skills: Try to interpret the statements of other players and draw conclusions from them.
Gangster City is a deduction game that challenges up to six players to combine their analytical and psychological skills in a game filled with exciting twists each round.
