Objective
The objective of Kamisado is to be the first player to move one of your towers to your opponent's starting line on the opposite side of the board.
Components
- A Kamisado board with an 8x8 grid. Each square on the board is a different color.
- Each player has eight towers, also in eight different colors.
Setup
- Each player places their eight towers on their home row, corresponding to the colors of the squares.
- The opponent does the same on the opposite home row.
Gameplay
- White always goes first.
- On each turn, a player moves one of their towers forward, either straight or diagonally. Towers cannot move backwards or sideways.
- A tower moves until it either lands on an occupied square or reaches the edge of the board.
Turn Mechanics
- The color of the square on which the turn ends determines which of the opponent's towers must move next.
- Example: If your turn ends on an orange square, your opponent must move their orange tower next.
End of the Game
- The game ends immediately when a player moves a tower to the opponent's home row. That player is the winner.
Strategic Tips
- Planning and foresight: Choose the opponent's color carefully as it can significantly influence the flow of the game.
- Position your towers strategically: Block your opponent's towers to limit their mobility.
- Predict and react: Try to predict your opponent’s moves and plan your counter-strategies accordingly.
Note: Kamisado is a game that relies entirely on strategy and foresight as there is no element of luck like dice rolling or card drawing, making it a highly tactical game from the very first move.
