Objective of the Game
Multicolore is a card game where the objective is to be the first player to discard all your cards, which represent colors and numbers, and have no cards left in hand.
Game Components
- A special deck of cards with colors (e.g., Red, Blue, Green, Yellow)
- Number cards (e.g., 1 to 10) in each color
Setup
- Shuffle the deck thoroughly.
- Each player is dealt 7 cards.
- Place the remaining deck face down as the draw pile in the center.
- Turn over the top card of the draw pile and place it next to it as the discard pile.
Game Play
-
Players take turns in a clockwise direction.
-
Playing a Card: The current player must discard one card from their hand onto the discard pile. They can only discard a card that matches either the color or the number of the top card on the discard pile.
- Cannot Play: If a player cannot play a card, they must draw one card from the draw pile. If the drawn card can be played, they may play it immediately. If not, their turn ends without discarding.
- Special Cards: There may be special cards in the deck, such as Reverse, Skip, or Draw 2. These cards have additional effects:
- Reverse: Changes the direction of play (from clockwise to counter-clockwise or vice versa).
- Skip: The next player is skipped.
- Draw 2: The next player must draw two cards and their turn ends.
- Wild Card: A special card that acts as a joker and can be played on any card. The player then chooses the color to follow.
Winning
- The game ends when a player has discarded all their cards. This player is the winner of the round.
Strategic Tips
- Save special cards for strategic moments to prevent opponents from winning.
- Observe other players' cards to estimate which colors or numbers they might lack.
- Try to keep your hand cards varied to have a play option in each turn.
Situational Considerations
- If the draw pile is exhausted, shuffle the discard pile (except the top card) to form a new draw pile.
"Multicolore" is an easy-to-understand, yet strategically demanding game that can be enjoyed by young players and adults alike.
