Objective
The objective of Belle-Fluss and Einunddreißig (also known as 31) is to have a hand of cards with a total value as close to 31 points as possible. The game combines elements of card drawing and bluffing with a straightforward point system.
Cards and Values
- Number of cards: A standard deck of 52 cards is used, without jokers.
- Card values:
- Ace = 11 points
- King, Queen, Jack = 10 points
- Number cards (2-10) count as their face value.
Rules of Play
- Number of Players: The game can be played with 2 to 9 players.
- Dealing: Each player is dealt three cards to start with, and the rest of the deck is placed face down to form the draw pile. One card is placed face up to start the discard pile.
- Gameplay:
- Players aim to improve their hand through drawing and discarding cards.
- A player's turn consists of two phases:
- Draw: The player can draw the top card from either the discard pile (face up) or the draw pile (face down).
- Discard: The player then discards one card face up onto the discard pile.
- The aim is to have cards of one suit totaling as close as possible to 31. A hand totaling exactly 31 is unbeatable.
- Ending a Round: If a player feels confident they have the best hand, they may "knock," signaling the final round. Other players get one more turn before the round ends.
- Scoring the Round:
- All players reveal their cards. The player with the highest total value in one suit wins the round.
- In a tie, the highest value card within the suit determines the winner.
- Winning the Game: Players continue playing rounds until one reaches a predetermined winning score.
Strategic Tips
- Bluffing: A key element is smart bluffing. A player might knock early to unsettle others.
- Risk Assessment: Balancing risk (drawing one more card) and security (knocking with a decent hand) is crucial.
A fast-paced and dynamic game, requiring both luck and strategic thinking. Enjoy the play!
