Objective of the Game
Wat’n dat!? is a creative guessing game where players have to guess a specific object or term based on abstract clues. The goal is for players to collect the most points by successfully guessing terms or giving great clues.
Game Materials
- Cards with terms
- Pens and paper for notes
- Points are often noted on a piece of paper
Setup
- Shuffle the deck of cards thoroughly and place them face down in the center of the table, accessible to all players.
- Each player receives a pen and paper.
Gameplay
-
One player acts as the clue-giver: This player draws the top card from the deck and looks at the term without showing it to the others.
-
Giving clues: The clue-giver's task is to provide hints for the drawn term. These hints must be abstract and cannot directly mention the word. For example, for the term "cat," one might say "purring."
-
Guessing round: The other players try to guess the term on the card. There is no fixed number of guesses per player, but a reasonable time should be maintained to keep the game flowing.
-
Scoring:
- If a player guesses the term correctly, both the clue-giver and the player who guessed correctly receive a point.
-
If no one guesses the term, no points are awarded, and the next player becomes the clue-giver.
-
Next round: The next player in clockwise order becomes the clue-giver, and the above steps are repeated.
-
End of game: The game ends after a predetermined number of rounds or when the card supplies run out. The player with the most points wins.
Strategic Tips
- Creativity in Giving Clues: The most effective clues are often abstract, steering players in the right direction without revealing the word itself.
- Adapt Clues to the Knowledge of Other Players: If you know the preferences or strengths of others, you can tailor clues to better match their knowledge.
Wat’n dat!? requires both creative and analytical skills, as it involves anticipating the thoughts of other players while also communicating precisely. Enjoy the guessing!
