Objective
In Panzerschlacht players control tanks and must try to eliminate the opposing tanks on the board. The last player remaining with tanks on the field wins the game.
Setup
Each player receives a number of tanks and places them on their starting area on the game board. The board is divided into square tiles that simulate a battlefield landscape, including open areas and obstacles.
Gameplay
The game progresses in rounds, each round consisting of the following phases:
- Movement Phase:
- In each round, a player can move their tanks on the board. The movement is dictated by the rules for the tank being moved; some tanks may move further than others.
-
Movement is in a straight line on empty spaces, and obstacles must be maneuvered around.
-
Attack Phase:
- After moving, tanks that are in range of an opponent's tank may attack.
- Attacks are determined by a dice roll, where higher results result in a hit. Some tanks have special modifiers added to the dice roll.
- A successful hit removes the opponent's tank from the board.
Winning Conditions
The game ends when only one player's tanks remain on the field. That player is the winner.
Strategic Considerations
- Positioning: Choosing where and when to move is crucial. Predicting the opponent’s moves or flanking the enemy can be decisive.
- Attack or Retreat: It's often wise to only attack when the chances of eliminating an enemy tank are high while also keeping your tanks safe.
- Utilizing Obstacles: These can provide cover, so players should use them to their advantage to protect their tanks.
The game offers a strategic challenge, despite the luck element involved in dice rolling. Players need careful planning of moves and attacks to be successful.
