Objective of the Game
In Riftforce, two players compete against each other to gain influence over certain locations by using elemental creatures, known as "Elementals," to score the most points. The primary goal is to destroy the opponent's units and gain Riftforce by dominating different rift locations.
Game Components
- 110 Cards, divided into elemental and guild cards
- 20 Riftforce Tokens
- 8 Guild Overviews
- 1 Game Board
- 2 Overview Cards
Setup
- Set up the board: Place the game board between the two players and have the Riftforce tokens ready.
- Select guilds: Each player chooses four out of ten possible guilds, each with unique abilities tied to an element like fire, water, or earth.
- Build your deck: Construct your personal deck from the chosen guilds.
- Determine the starting player: The player who reveals Riftforce cards first starts the game.
Gameplay
The game consists of alternating turns where players play cards and take actions.
1. Playing Cards
- A player can play up to three cards from their hand. These cards can either share the same number or belong to the same guild.
2. Executing Actions
- Attack: An Elemental can attack using its special ability. This may involve sacrificing cards or moving Elementals on the board.
- Defend: Place Elementals for defense or move them to control battlefield areas.
3. Draw Cards
- Players replenish their hand by drawing new cards.
End of the Game
- The game ends when one player has accumulated 12 Riftforce points. Points are mostly gained by destroying opponent's Elementals or controlling rifts.
- The player with the most points at the end wins.

- Guild Selection: Different guilds offer various strengths. Combining abilities effectively is crucial.
- Reacting to Moves: The ability to adapt quickly to opponents' moves can be decisive.
- Control over Rifts: Securing these helps generate points and staying ahead in the score.
