Objective
The objective of Seven Eleven is to roll certain point combinations based on dice luck to win stakes. It is a simple dice game where strategy and tactics play a minor role.
Materials
- Two six-sided dice
- Stakes: These can be coins, chips, or another form of point value.
- Playing surface: A table for all players.
Setup
- Number of players: At least 2 players.
- All players place an equal amount into the center of the table. This is the "pot".
- Set a target roll number (traditionally 7 or 11).
Gameplay
-
Determine the first roller. This can be done by rolling dice - the highest roll starts.
-
The roller rolls both dice.
- Win: If the roller immediately rolls the target number (sum of 7 or 11 - depending on the agreement), they win the entire pot.
-
Loss: If the roller rolls another sum, no points are awarded, and the next player in clockwise direction becomes the roller.
-
Collecting stakes: Repeat this until the pot is won. Then start a new round.
Special Rules and Strategic Tips
- Zero-Risk Strategy: As each roll is independent, players have no long-term decision-making power. This promotes a simple and quick game flow.
- Variation: Players can choose a specific target number (e.g., only 7, only 11, or another sum).
- House Rules: Often, local or personal rules are introduced to vary the game (e.g., extra chips on certain rolls).
Seven Eleven is a classic example where luck is the main criterion determining the course of the game. Therefore, significant tactics or strategic considerations are rare. It is well-suited for casual and social rounds.
