Objective of the Game
Munchkin is a satirical card game that mimics classic role-playing games. The main objective for players is to reach Level 10 by defeating monsters, collecting treasures, and influencing each other.
Game Components
- Door Cards: These bring monsters, curses, or helpful items into play.
- Treasure Cards: These offer players weapons and equipment to become stronger.
- Six-sided Die (D6): Used for various events and fights.
Game Setup
- Shuffle the two main decks: Door Cards and Treasure Cards.
- Each player starts at Level 1.
- Deal each player four Door and four Treasure cards.
Gameplay
The gameplay revolves around handling each player's turn, divided into five main phases.
1. Kick Down the Door
- Flip over the top Door Card.
- If it's a Monster, prepare for combat.
- For a Curse, it takes effect immediately.
- Otherwise, take the card into your hand.
2. Combat
- Compare your own Level plus bonuses from equipment to the monster's strength.
- If you win, you go up a Level and collect the specified number of Treasure Cards.
- If you lose, you must attempt to run away by rolling the die to avoid the monster's consequences.
3. Loot the Room (if no monster was encountered)
- Draw another Door Card into your hand.
4. Charity
- Players must have a maximum of five cards in their hand. Excess cards go to the player with the lowest level.
5. Observe Other Turns
- Players can interact with each other at any time, offering help in combat or placing curses on others.
Strategies and Tips
- Cooperate and Hinder: Trade or assist others for future support.
- Bluffs and Tricks: Conceal items until strategically advantageous.
- Deck Awareness: Knowing the available cards can guide your decisions regarding movement and item usage.
End of the Game
- The game concludes once a player reaches Level 10. This player becomes the "Super-Munchkin" and wins the game.
