Claymore Saga (The Legend of Sagor)

Objective

Claymore Saga, also known as The Legend of Sagor, is a strategic board game where players command powerful armies of heroes, warriors, and mythical creatures to gain control over the kingdom of Sagor. The main objective is to either defeat all opposing heroes or capture a specific number of strategically important locations.

Setup

• Game Board: Place the game board in the center of the table.
• Figures and Tokens: Each player receives a number of hero and army figures in their color and marking tokens.
• Deck of Cards: Shuffle the deck of event and treasure cards and place it face down.
• Resource Tokens: Distribute different types of resources equally to each player.
• Determine Starting Positions: Select starting positions on the board and place your heroes and armies there.

Gameplay

The game proceeds in rounds, with players taking turns sequentially. Each round consists of several phases:

1. Event Phase: Draw an event card and immediately execute its effect. These events can include environmental effects, monster attacks, or special challenges.

2. Resource Phase: Collect resources based on the areas you control.

3. Movement Phase: Move your heroes and armies on the board. You can move to any adjacent area unless it is fully occupied by an opponent.

4. Combat Phase: Attack enemy units located in adjacent areas. Battles are resolved through dice rolls, modified by unit strength and special abilities.

5. Construction Phase: Use collected resources to build new armies or buildings, which can give you strategic advantages.

6. End Phase: Check victory conditions.

Victory Conditions

• Control of Locations: A player wins by capturing and holding a specific number of strategically important locations on the map.
• Elimination of Heroes: Alternatively, a player can win by eliminating all the heroes of the opponents.

Strategies

• Resource Management is crucial. Wisely use your resources to expand your armies and fortify your locations.
• Area Dominance provides control over essential resource points and limits opponents’ mobility.
• Hero Defense: Protect your heroes by surrounding them with strong armies and avoid risky battles.
• Event Cards can quickly change the tide of the game, so plan ahead to react to unexpected events.

Special Rules

• Magical Artifacts: These can be found during the game and grant heroes or armies additional abilities or combat bonuses.
