group 2 - 5 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

In Carcassonne: New World, players aim to score as many points as possible by strategically placing landscape tiles and deploying followers (also known as meeples) in the discovered regions of the New World. They will build towns, roads, monasteries, and fields as they expand the territory.

Game Components

  • Landscape tiles with various combinations of towns, roads, fields, and monasteries
  • Followers (meeples) in different colors for each player
  • A scoring board to track points

Gameplay

  1. Setup
  2. Shuffle all the landscape tiles and place them as a face-down draw pile.
  3. Each player takes all the meeples of their color.
  4. Place the scoring board nearby, and each player places a marker on it to track their points.

  5. Turn Structure Each player takes turns with three phases:

  6. Draw and Place a Tile: Draw the top tile from the stack and place it adjacent to any existing tiles. Tiles must match roads, town edges, and fields.

  7. Deploy a Meeple: Optionally, place one of your meeples onto the tile you just placed. It can occupy a road, town, monastery, or field section.

    • A road is completed when both ends are closed by towns, crossroads, or dead-ends.
    • A town is completed when it is fully enclosed with no remaining open edges.
    • A monastery is completed when surrounded by eight tiles in all directions.
    • Fields are counted at the end of the game and score based on completed towns touching them.
  8. Scoring Completed Areas: Whenever an area is completed, it scores immediately. The player receives points according to the area's size and retrieves their meeple.

  9. End of the Game and Final Scoring The game ends when all tiles have been placed. Then, a final scoring occurs:

  10. Uncompleted roads, towns, and monasteries score with reduced points.
  11. Fields are scored based on the number of completed towns they supply.

The player with the most points wins.

Strategic Tips

  • Utilize fields strategically, as they often are key to big end-game scoring.
  • Anticipate and remember what tiles might remain in the stack, especially when nearing the completion of a significant structure.
  • Weigh your own progress against others', and place meeples carefully to gain influence over high-scoring areas or fields.
