Objective of the Game
Warhammer Quest is a cooperative adventure board game where players explore dungeons together to overcome challenges, collect treasures, and level up characters. The main goal is to traverse the dungeons, defeat monsters, and ultimately beat the main adversary in the final chamber.
Setup
- Board Setup: Players start with a starting node and add rooms as they delve deeper into the dungeon. Each room is represented by a card that is drawn as adventurers proceed through a door.
- Character Selection: Each player chooses a hero character, such as a warrior, wizard, dwarf, or elf, each with specific abilities and starting gear.
- Prepare Monster Decks: The monsters that players will encounter are shuffled and set aside. The type and number of monsters depend on the dungeon's difficulty level.
Gameplay
Warhammer Quest is played in rounds consisting of several phases:
- Exploration Phase: The adventuring party explores the dungeon and draws cards to discover new rooms.
- Event Phase: During this phase, unexpected events occur, usually triggered by drawing event cards. These can have positive or negative effects.
- Combat Phase: Once monsters appear, the game shifts to the combat phase. Players roll dice to defeat these monsters. The key goal in this phase is the optimal use of skills and coordination among the players.
- Melee Combat: Heroes can attack using a D6, comparing their melee strength to that of the monsters.
- Ranged Combat/Magic: Some characters can attack from a distance or cast spells, governed by special rules and dice rolls.
- Exploration Phase: After a combat or event, players can continue to move or interact, such as healing their characters if they were injured.
Special Rules
- Character Development: Throughout the game, heroes earn experience points by slaying monsters and completing quests. These points can be used to learn skills or improve weapons.
- Treasure Collection: Hidden treasures within the dungeons provide characters additional traits or are important for reaching the game’s goal.
