Objective of the Game
Whisky Settlers is a fictional board game that involves both skill and strategy. The objective is to establish a thriving village and dominate the whisky production among settlers. The player with the most points at the end of the game rounds wins.
Setup
- Game Board: Place the board in the center of the table. It should consist of several hexagonal tiles representing various resources: grain, water, wood, malt, and yeast.
- Resource Cards: Prepare the stacks of resource cards corresponding to the tiles.
- Settlements and Roads: Each player receives a number of settlements and roads in their color.
- Whisky Barrels: These represent whisky production and are placed on the side.
- Initial Placement: Each player places two settlements and two roads on the board in turn. Settlements are placed at the corners of the hex tiles, roads along the edges.
Gameplay
- Round Start
- At the beginning of their turn, each player rolls two dice.
-
The sum of the dice determines which tiles produce resources. Each tile is numbered 2 to 12. If a tile produces, any player with a settlement on a corner of the tile receives the corresponding resource.
-
Resource Trading and Building
- Resources can be traded with other players or used to build more roads and settlements or upgrade settlements to cities.
-
A special trading mode lets players exchange resources with the bank, but at a fixed rate (e.g., 4:1, 3:1 at certain ports).
-
Whisky Production
- Players can invest resources to produce whisky. A production cycle requires specific resources and generates a whisky barrel, which counts as a victory point.
-
Special cards and tiles on the board can offer boosts for production or enable special barrel acquisitions that add bonus points for further strategies.
-
Special Cards and Events
- "Whisky Master": Collect bonus cards offering additional effects.
- "Robber": On a roll of 7, the active player can move a robber and steal a resource from a neighbor.
Winning the Game
The game ends when a player reaches a predetermined number of victory points (typically 10). Points are gathered through settlements, cities, and whisky barrels. The player with the most points wins.
Strategic Tips
- Resource Management: Effective management and negotiation skills in trading are crucial.
- Production Optimization: Ensure whisky cycles are optimally utilized.
- Placement: Initial settlements placement affects long-term resource availability.
