Objective of the Game
The objective of Six nimmt! is to collect as few penalty points as possible over the rounds. Penalty points are acquired by having to pick up rows of cards. Players aim to place cards without completing a full row.
Setup
- Shuffle the cards and deal each player 10 face-down cards.
- Place the top four cards face-up on the table. These are the starting cards for four rows.
Game Play
- Choosing a Card: Each player selects one card from their hand and places it face-down in front of them.
- Reveal Cards: All players simultaneously reveal their chosen card.
- Placing Cards: Cards are placed in ascending order in the open rows on the table. A card is added to the row whose last card has the lowest value among those smaller than the played card.
- Full Row: If a row consists of six cards after adding a card, the player who placed the sixth card must take these five cards, and the played sixth card becomes the new start card of that row.
-
No Suitable Row: If a card cannot fit into any existing row, the player must pick up one entire row (usually the one with the fewest penalty points).
-
Counting Penalty Points: Taken cards stay with the player and are added to the score at the end of the round.
-
End of Round: The round ends when all players have played their 10 cards. Then scoring occurs.
Scoring
- Each card has a penalty value known as "Hornochsen," scored as penalty points (usually indicated by the number of bullheads on the cards).
- The goal is to collect as few bullheads as possible.
Ending the Game
The game ends when a pre-agreed-upon number of penalty points is reached (e.g., 66 penalty points). The player with the fewest penalty points wins the game.
Strategic Insights
- Plan Ahead: Pay attention to the cards still in hand to avoid potentially picking up rows.
- Influence Rows: If you can predict when a row will fill to the fifth card, you might plan to avoid completing it.
Six nimmt! is a simple but strategically deep game that combines luck and clever management of small numbers.
