Objective of the Game

Rippeltippel is a simple yet entertaining dice game that focuses on quick counting and attentive listening. The goal is to avoid accumulating points by skillfully counting and cleverly reacting.

Number of Players

The game can be played with 3 to 8 players.

Game Materials

  • One die
  • Paper and pencil for scorekeeping

Game Setup

  1. All players sit in a circle.
  2. Prepare a piece of paper and a pen to keep track of the score.
  3. Decide who will start the game.

Gameplay

  1. The first player rolls the die and starts counting, beginning with the number shown on the die. For example, if the die shows 5, the player starts counting aloud "1, 2, 3, 4, 5."
  2. The next player continues with the next number.
  3. Instead of saying the number that matches the number on the die or its multiples, players say "Rippel." For example, with a roll of 5: Instead of "5," "10," "15," etc., players would say "Rippel."
  4. Any counting mistake or hesitation is penalized with a point.
  5. The player who made the mistake rolls anew and starts the next round.

End of the Game

The game ends when a player reaches a predetermined number of points, e.g., 10 points. The player with the least points wins the game.

Strategic Tips

  • Attention: It's crucial to stay focused and maintain the order of numbers in mind.
  • Rhythm: Try to keep a smooth counting rhythm to throw the other players off.

Variants

  • Accelerated Pace: To make the game more thrilling, introduce a time limit for saying the next number.
  • Multiple Dice: Using two dice increases complexity, as multiple "Rippel numbers" need to be accounted for!

Rippeltippel does not require extensive strategic planning but demands attentiveness and quick reactions. It's perfect for mixed groups and offers lots of fun and laughter with its simple rules.
