group 2 - 6 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

The goal of Meiern is to outsmart your opponents by bluffing and using clever tactics to make them lose their chips or lives while you lose as few as possible. The winner is the last player with chips or lives remaining.

Game Components

  • 2 dice
  • Cup to hide the dice results
  • Chips or other tokens to keep track of remaining lives

Number of Players

  • At least 2 players, ideally 3 to 6 players.

Game Rules

  1. Setup:
  2. Each player receives a set number of chips or lives, e.g., 5.
  3. Players sit in a circle.
  4. Game Play:
  5. The first player rolls both dice in the cup and looks at the result without revealing it.
  6. Then, they pass the cup to the next player on the left while announcing a number, which can be either true or a bluff.
  7. The announced number is formed by the two dice, where the higher number makes up the tens. For example, a roll of 3 and 5 can be announced as 53 or 35.
  8. Special Combination: A "Meier" is the highest combination, consisting of a 2 and a 1 (21).
  9. The next player has two options:
    1. Believe: Trust the announced number, roll the dice, and try to beat it.
    2. Challenge: Doubt the roll and reveal the cup.
  10. Revealing & Consequences:
  11. If the player challenges, the cup is lifted:
    • Truth: If the announcement was true, the challenger loses a life/chip.
    • Lie: If the announcement was false, the original announcer loses a life/chip.
  12. If believed, the game continues with the new number.
  13. Exceeding:
  14. Upon rolling, the player must either roll and announce a higher number than the prior announcement or bluff.
  15. Ending the Game:
  16. A player is out when they lose all their lives/chips.
  17. The winner is the last remaining player with at least one life/chip.

Tactical Tips

  • Bluffing: A convincing bluff is key. Be confident and persuasive.
  • Psychology: Pay attention to the other players’ body language for signs of lying.
  • Risk Management: Consider when it is worth doubting because you risk losing your lives/chips.
