Objective of the Game
In The Magic Labyrinth, the aim is for players to be the first to collect five magical symbols hidden within an underground maze. Each player controls a novice wizard, navigating through a labyrinth to collect these magical symbols.
Game Components
- A three-dimensional board with a tabletop (the visible labyrinth) and underlying walls (the invisible labyrinth)
- 24 Magic symbol tokens
- 24 Corresponding symbol cards
- 4 Novice wizard figures
- 4 Metal balls
- 1 Die with numbers from 1 to 4
Setup
- Build the lower maze: Place walls into the lower grid to create the hidden labyrinth.
- Place the top board: Set the visible game board over the hidden labyrinth.
- Prepare figures: Position each wizard figure on a start space, placing a metal ball below it which is held in place by a magnetic connection.
- Shuffle symbols: Shuffle the 24 symbol cards and place them face down beside the board.
Gameplay
- Play proceeds clockwise.
- The starting player reveals the top card from the pile, showing the symbol to be reached next.
- Each player rolls the die at the start of their turn and moves their figure accordingly.
- Along the way, the novice wizards may hit invisible walls (magnetic barriers); if this happens, the metal ball drops off, ending the player's turn.
- The figure returns to the start space and the player can attempt another try on their next turn.
Special Features and Strategies
- Players must remember where the invisible walls are located to navigate efficiently through the maze.
- The better a player's memory and visualization skills, the faster they can move their figure through the labyrinth.
- The first player to navigate the way to five symbols successfully wins the game.
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as one player reaches their fifth symbol, and that player is declared the winner.
