Objective of the Game
Silver & Gold is a fast-paced and engaging mix of Flip & Write and Set Collection. The goal of the game is to fill treasure maps and accumulate the most points by the end of the game.
Game Components
- 47 Treasure Cards
- 8 Expedition Cards
- 4 Dry Erase Markers
- 1 Rulebook
Setup
- Each player receives two Treasure Cards. The remaining Treasure Cards form a draw pile.
- The eight Expedition Cards are shuffled and placed face down in the center of the table.
- Three Treasure Cards are drawn from the draw pile and placed face up in the center; these form the initial card selection.
- Each player receives a dry erase marker.
Gameplay
Silver & Gold is played over four rounds, each consisting of seven turns. In each turn, an Expedition Card is flipped, indicating which Tetris shape players can mark on their Treasure Cards.
1. Flip an Expedition Card
- Draw the top card from the Expedition deck and place it face up beside the deck.
- The Tetris shape on this card shows which shape players may mark on their Treasure Maps.
2. Mark Fields
- Each player marks the shape shown on the Expedition Card on one or both of their Treasure Maps.
Important Tips:
- The shape does not need to be contiguous.
- Excess parts of shapes can be reserved for other fields.
3. Score and Draw New Cards
- Once a player completely fills a Treasure Card, it is scored:
- Add the points from the Treasure Card.
- Account for any bonus points from Palm Trees or X-spots.
- The card is removed from the game and replaced with a new one from the open selection.
- Replenish the open selection with a new card from the draw pile.
4. Use Special Actions
Treasure Cards may feature special actions:
- Gain Coins: Each coin marked during play grants extra points at the end of the round.
- XP for Clouds: Cloud symbols offer additional points when collected — results are tallied at each round's end.
End of Round
- A round ends after seven Expedition Cards are played, and players note their round scores.
- The eight Expedition Cards are shuffled for the next round.
End of the Game
After four rounds, the game concludes. Players sum up their total points from all rounds, including coin and X-points. The player with the highest score wins.
Tips and Strategies
- Efficient Filling: Try to use shapes precisely to fill spaces without gaps.
- Replace Treasure Cards Wisely: Strategically replace filled cards from the open selection to maximize your score.
- Exploit Palm Trees: Go for Palm bonuses whenever possible for extra points.
- Track Finances: Keep an eye on Coins and Clouds to not miss out on additional points.
Silver & Gold successfully blends strategy and luck in an accessible and entertaining manner, perfect for a casual game night with friends or family.
